Common causes of asphalt driveway deterioration are weathering, drainage problems, excessive loads, and fluids from leaky vehicles on the driveway.
We can take care of your blacktop driveway repair and fix your asphalt problems in various ways, depending on the nature and extent of the driveway damage. These methods include:
Remove and Replace
This is the preferred blacktop driveway repair method when the base of the driveway has been damaged. The damaged driveway area is then saw-cut at the edge of the deteriorated pavement area, the asphalt and stone are removed from the pavement, and the base is inspected. New stone is installed as needed and compacted thoroughly to stabilize the base of the blacktop driveway. Hot asphalt is then added to the proper thickness and rolled to match the surrounding driveway elevations.
Infrared Driveway Repair
Favored for its ability to create a quick, seamless blacktop driveway patch in areas that do not have serious structural or sub-grade asphalt deterioration, this method uses “invisible” infrared heat to recycle existing asphalt. Our equipment produces intense infrared wavelengths to penetrate the surface of the existing asphalt and heat it to a depth necessary to scarify and repair the damaged area. With the addition of fresh asphalt, the pavement area is compacted and leveled up to grade. The result is a water-resistant, seamless repair with heat-welded edges for your blacktop driveway.
Overlay Resurfacing of Blacktop
This option is recommended only when the existing asphalt base of the driveway is in good shape or if you are looking for a lower-cost quick fix. First, we remove any loose debris from the blacktop driveway repair area and apply a layer of tack (glue). Asphalt is then addedto the desired thickness and then compacted. Because skin patches are addedto the top of existing asphalt, they may appear slightly raised and rougher than the surrounding asphalt areas on your driveway.
Driveway Paving
EverBlak provides custom, high-quality driveway paving to fit your needs and budget. In order to construct a quality asphalt driveway surface, EverBlak will work with you to determine the most appropriate driveway paving plan to suit your particular blacktop driveway requirements and budget. Factors we consider when developing a driveway paving plan include:
- The physical characteristics and condition of your asphalt driveway
- Usage factors of the pavement, such as the types and weights of vehicles that will use the asphalt driveway
- Parking lot traffic flow patterns and safety requirements
New Driveway Paving Installation
The process of constructing an entirely new asphalt driveway surface begins with excavating the site to the proper grade and ensuring that the sub-grade is stable. Next, a stone base is installed to the required thickness. We then grade and compact the base and verify that driveway elevations are sufficient to ensure proper drainage of the site. Finally, we install and compact layers of hot asphalt mix, carefully rolling it to create a smooth, even finish. Once the driving paving portion of the job is done, we complete the project with line striping, traffic markings, and signage (if appropriate) all in conformance with local codes and American Disability Act standards.
Remove and Repave the Driveway
When an asphalt driveway has not been properly maintained, or if it has simply exceeded its life expectancy, the old asphalt may need to be removed and replaced. Once the old asphalt has been removed, we conduct a thorough inspection of the existing driveway base to determine whether additional steps may be needed to prepare the base before we install new asphalt driveway. Conditions which may not be discovered until the old asphalt is removed include mud, shallow utilities, excessive moisture, or an incorrectly installed sub-grade layer. Once deficiencies have been corrected, a stone base is installed, graded, and compacted. The new asphalt is then installed and compacted to finish the process and repair the driveway.
Resurface Existing Driveway
When asphalt has begun to show signs of surface deterioration on the driveway, but the base is still intact, an asphalt overlay provides an extremely effective solution. Asphalt overlays can be approached in several different ways, depending on the condition of the asphalt and your specific needs and preferences for your driveway. We will be happy to explain to you in detail the various pros, cons, and costs associated with all of your driveway resurfacing options.
